Who are your clients?
Understandably, the insurance industry and attorneys would be the clients for most traffic accident crash investigations. This doesn't mean that we won't look into a crash for a private citizen however, we would recommend that you consult an attorney first. From that point, they can better advise you if there is a potential claim.
What do you investigate?
The first thing we want to look at is the accident report that was filed by the police. We will be looking for possible discrepancies, things that are missing or possibly overlooked and potential mistakes. From there, we contact you and provide a report and let you know of the options from there. We charge a flat fee of $ 95.00 to look at and analyze an accident report. We look for numerous issues with each report such as, point of perception, possible perception delays, speeds, skids, vaults, conservation of momentum, crush and much more.
What should I provide to you if I want a crash looked into?
We would need a FULL copy of the police accident or crash report as well as any supplemental reports and copies of all photos and video taken at the accident scene and afterwards. If you can provide it, that would be fine. Otherwise, one of our investigators can retrieve the report from the investigating law enforcement agency. From there, we will do a preliminary analysis and provide you with our findings. You then decide if you want us to investigate further. If we honestly feel that the accident report is correct, we will let you know. Sometimes, we can investigate further and go to a scene and find problems with the report that changes the whole accident investigation, (Like a ditch that existed not being included on the report) but there is an extra expense and that will be your decision.

Do you have to look at the scene?
Initially, we look at the police report and other evidence. From there we do an analysis and provide the findings to our client. If the investigation continues from there, we will want to look at the scene. Even if it is months later, there is the possibility of some potential evidence being missed. Plus we will want to check the accuracy of the report with the scene to determine if the measurements are correct. This is where concerns such as line of sight, possible perception and more come in to play. We may also want to locate and re-interview witnesses.
What are your qualifications?
Our accident investigators are certified as experts in traffic accident investigation and reconstruction. Our lead investigator has nearly 20 years of law enforcement experience and has handled or advised on hundreds of traffic accidents or crashes. Our investigators also have experience testifying in court.
I have heard that it costs thousands to have an accident investigated, is that true?
It certainly can, depending on the complexity of the accident and the time to locate witnesses and obtain reports. This is why we offer the initial consultation and allow you to determine the next step from there. We have no problem with you telling us how many hours that you want us to put in on each individual case (known as an hour cap). That way, you control your costs. We will keep you apprised of our progress daily if you request.
As a private citizen, is it worth it to have you look into my crash?
That is a question that only you can answer. The fee is $ 95.00 for the initial analysis. The costs increase if the investigation enters the "field" stage from there. We would highly recommend that you consult with an attorney first to see if they will take you case. Some attorneys get an extra discount on accident investigations and will pass the savings on to you, or they will even cover the cost of an accident investigation for you and take the fees from any settlement or award. If you are determined to have your case looked into without using an attorney, we will look at it and provide an honest opinion. If we feel that there is a possibility of an error, we may refer you to a local attorney at that time.
